But the words spoken made Bian Sheng shiver.
For some reason, he felt the place on his face where he had been punched start to hurt again.
Tong Sui said, “Step aside.”
Surprisingly, Bian Sheng really took a step to the side.
By the time he realized what was happening, Tong Sui had already walked past him, lying on the bed and pulling the blanket over himself, leaving only a few damp strands of hair visible.
Thinking about how he was once again intimidated by Tong Sui, Bian Sheng’s expression twisted for a few seconds.
He impatiently pushed open the balcony door and lit a cigarette.
The pungent smell of tobacco was nowhere near as pleasant as the faint fragrance coming from Tong Sui; after taking two puffs, he extinguished it.
Bian Sheng had plenty of money at home, and everyone around him catered to him.
He had never encountered anyone quite like Tong Sui before.
Even a single word from him was met with impatience, but he could clearly sense that Tong Sui’s attitude was entirely different when facing Ye Linyuan.
The ambiguous atmosphere felt nothing like that of two alphas.
Just then, Bian Sheng’s communicator beeped.
It was his former lackey.
“Brother Sheng, how’s it going over there? I heard it’s quite strict.” The lackey flattered, “We have a comprehensive university here, mixing AB and O types, but the omega quality is not great, so you definitely wouldn’t care for it.”
“Why aren’t you speaking?”
Bian Sheng replied, “I’m in a bad mood.”
The lackey asked, “What happened, did someone make you unhappy? Who is it? I can send someone to deal with him!”
“Not that,” Bian Sheng said, “I’m wondering how likely it is for an omega to disguise themselves as an A.”
The lackey’s voice rose by eight degrees, incredulously asking, “Are you suspicious that your—”
“Lower your voice.”
“Oh, oh, you mean you think an omega has infiltrated?”
If this were at another school, it might be fine, but this was a military academy, the top institution in the country.
In formal training, there could be no errors.
An omega would experience unstable heat cycles, and their scent leaking out could have a huge impact on alphas, potentially causing immeasurable disasters.
This was also the reason why military academies did not recruit omegas.
In fact, Bian Sheng couldn’t be sure; he was just more curious about Tong Sui as a person.
The lackey said, “We have a kind of drug here that has no effect on alphas and betas, but if an omega takes it, they will enter a pseudo-heat period. Do you want me to get some for you to try?”
Bian Sheng frowned, crushing the half-finished cigarette under his fingertips.
“Bring it here.”
As for whether he would use it, he hadn’t decided yet.
Bian Sheng walked back to the dormitory and glanced at Tong Sui on the lower bunk as he climbed into bed.
Tong Sui had already fallen asleep.
He was very obedient when completely relaxed, but had a poor attitude toward Bian Sheng.
While he couldn’t match Ye Linyuan, he was certainly better than the person over there who was overweight.
The midday break was already short.
Tong Sui had even spent some time taking a shower, so when the alarm rang, he felt completely dazed.
Tong Sui got up with them, changed clothes, and slowly put on his shoes.
He felt as if he had no strength in his body.
“Sui Ge, are you not ready yet? You’re going to be late; the instructor will give penalties again.”
The chubby guy glanced at the untidy blanket behind Tong Sui; they had to make their beds.
“Let me help you.”
Before his hand could reach it, it was stopped by another hand.
Bian Sheng?
Without saying a word, Bian Sheng obediently helped Tong Sui fold the blanket. Although it was somewhat sloppy, it was better than nothing.
“Let’s go.”
Tong Sui murmured in response and walked out with him; they were almost late for roll call.
The afternoon was still a fine day, with the sun blazing.
After gathering, they ran a few laps.
Then, they stood at attention in the shade of a tree, the sound of cicadas buzzing in their ears, somewhat noisy.
Tong Sui’s vision was obscured by the sweat on his eyelashes, making the playground ahead appear hazy.
“Okay, disperse and take a break.”
Everyone around breathed a sigh of relief and sat under the flower beds.
Tong Sui only then realized, and he slowly opened his water bottle, finishing the remaining water but still feeling thirsty.
The chubby guy called out to Tong Sui several times before gently poking his shoulder.
Only then did Tong Sui react, drowsily lifting his head.
“Huh?”
“I’ll get you some water,” the chubby guy said, looking a bit worried at Tong Sui’s face. “Sui Ge, are you okay? You look a bit unwell.”
Tong Sui’s face was red, but his lips were pale.
“Mm, I’m fine.”
The chubby guy took his water bottle and walked away; he looked heavy but had good stamina, moving quickly.
While Tong Sui was momentarily distracted, the filled water bottle was back in his hands.
“Thanks.”
He took it and drank nearly half but still felt very thirsty; drinking water didn’t seem to alleviate the dryness in his throat.
A crisp whistle rang out.
As Tong Sui set down his water bottle and stood up with the others, a wave of dizziness made him pause for a few seconds before slowly walking back to his spot.
The instructor stood not far in front of Tong Sui, seemingly saying something; a long string of words, sounding clear one moment and distant the next, were hard to make out.
Excited voices erupted around him.
“Now we can go handle firearms; this is definitely more interesting than standing at attention.”
“But I heard there will be a test.”
“Let’s test; I’m a sharpshooter, what am I afraid of?”
The instructor led them toward the shooting range.
Tong Sui walked slowly, clutching his water bottle, trailing behind like a small tail.
In the office, Ye Linyuan’s gaze unconsciously drifted, following and then interrupting the department chair who was chatting away.
Ye Linyuan said, “I’ll go down and do a round.”
The department chair looked confused, “???”
After Ye Linyuan left, he turned to his assistant, “What’s wrong with Dean Ye?”
